Dr. Melissa Sveen, D.D.S., M.S. - Lincoln Pediatric Dentist
Dr. Melissa Sveen has been a pediatric dental specialist in Lincoln for over twenty years who is truly compassionate about offering the latest advancements in pediatric dentistry.
Dr. Sveen was raised in a small town in South Dakota and moved to Nebraska initially to practice as a registered nurse in Omaha. The field of dentistry with its allure of combining science with artistry was fascinating to her. She completed her doctorate of dental surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1984, and completed two further years of specialty training working only with infants, toddlers, children and adolescents as well as special needs children at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha in 1986. She also finished her Masters of Science degree at the same time.
She is on hospital staff at the Lincoln Surgical Hospital, Bryan-LGH Medical Center and St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center and is the staff pediatric dentist of the Medically Handicapped Children's Program, specializing in the care of children with cleft-lip and palates as well as cranio-facial anomalies and has given lectures in both the care of children with cleft lip and palates as well as pediatric dental care practices for the general dentist.
She is a long time member of the Lincoln District Dental Association, the Nebraska Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and has taken part in the Nebraska Mission of Mercy which provides care for the underserved children of Nebraska. She also has done mission work in Belize.
She is married to her husband of thirty-three years, Jay, and they have three grown children. She also has found time to help train dental students as a clinical instructor of pediatric dentistry at UNMC College of Dentistry as well, feeling the need to pass along her knowledge of children and the dental arts to others.
